Executive Assistant

Webinar

Career Overview

Executive assistants provide high-level administrative support to executives and senior leaders. They manage schedules, coordinate meetings, prepare documents and reports, organize information, conduct research, and help keep business operations running smoothly.

Education

A high school diploma can provide a starting point, but employers often prefer post-secondary education or specialized training in business administration, office administration, or a related field. Strong skills in communication, organization, writing, computer applications, and time management are valuable.

Future Outlook

Executive assistants continue to play an important role in organizations as executives and management teams rely on skilled professionals to coordinate schedules, information, communication, and business activities. Technology will continue to automate routine administrative tasks, increasing the value of executive assistants with strong digital, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

Executive assistants typically work in offices and spend much of their time using computers, communication tools, calendars, and business software. They work closely with executives, clients, colleagues, and other administrative staff. Some positions may involve travel, flexible schedules, or occasional work outside regular business hours.
